Amanda Seyfried In 'Lovelace' ? Movie Review: 5 Reasons To See ...

70?s hair, pornography, all star cast and Amanda Seyfried ? are you hooked yet? Here?s 5 reasons why you should go see ?Lovelace? in theaters!?

Lovelace?captures the true story of ?70s porn-star, Linda Lovelace. With her iconic film?Deep Throat?that hit theaters nationwide, Linda became a household name. What people never realized however, is what happened when the cameras weren?t rolling. You won?t want to miss this ?intense? and ?enlightening? biopic.

Amanda Seyfried In ?Lovelace?: Movie Review

Amanda Seyfried Bares All

First?Mean Girls,?then?Les Miserables, and now?Lovelace!?Amanda Seyfried,?27, is on fire as Linda Lovelace,?capturing your heart as the innocent yet bold young porn star. Amanda defies expectations with this daring biopic as she makes you fall for her girlish charm and sympathize with her painful desperation as she struggles to escape from her abusive husband and the pornographic industry.?Plus, she takes her clothes off!

It?s A Blast To The Past

With big hair, paisley button-ups, and velvet vests, this movie takes you on a time trip. From Linda?s fro, to her disco waves, her mother?s curly poof, her husband?s mustache, and every other ?70?s hairstyle you can think of, you will for sure get a kick out of the look and feel of the time ? it?s out of sight!

Mother-Daughter Love

Sharon Stone, 55,?delivers a strong performance as Linda?s tough-love mother who disciplines her daughter to always obey her husband. Their dynamic opens the door to another time where the patriarchal figure was very much influential on familial structure. Underneath the stern demeanor however, lies a loving mother whom her daughter loves relentlessly. This is where the heart of the film lies.

The Cast Is Superb

Peter Sarsgaard, 42, delivers a chilling performance as the porn-obssessed Chuck Traynor, whose love for Seyfried?s Linda turns into a dangerous obsession.

And we can?t forget about Mr. Big!?Chris Noth, 58, is a scene-stealer as Anthony Romano, a big wig in the porn industry. His tenderness towards Linda and ruthlessness towards Chuck is perfection.

Linda Marciano?s Story Is Enlightening

Deep Throat?made Linda Lovelace a staple name for her extraordinary ?skills? and innocent demeanor?oh and who could forget those cute freckles along her cheeks?

What is important, however, is that?Lovelace?takes us behind closed doors and reveals Linda?s struggles to break free from Chuck?s grasp and make more of herself than just a porn star. It is truly awakening and inspiring.

Lovelace comes out in theaters and on demand on August 9.

Well there you have it,?HollywoodLifers!?Will YOU go see?Lovelace when it comes out?

Joe Andruzzi makes dreams a reality for cancer patients

FOXBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- The Patriots made dreams a reality Thursday, for several young people battling cancer. Families from across New England visited Gillette Stadium for the "dream camp" experience.

Families were given a behind-the-scenes look at training camp and were even able to meet their favorite players.

?It?s really fun and cool, makes us feel special,? said Jen Fox.

?To invite patients and their families, a day out of the hospital, day out of the clinic, I was there. I was in that hospital bed and those walls close in on you. To come out here with spend day with your family and friends, see your favorite team, it goes a long way,? said former Patriots player Joe Andruzzi.

Families also got to spend time, with Joe Andruzzi, a three-time New England Patriots Super Bowl Champion, whose foundation helped put on the event.

How Maria Mitchell found a comet and a place for women among the stars

Maria Mitchell, a notable female astronomer, was born on August 1, 1881, and is remembered in today's Google Doodle.

By Katherine Jacobsen,?Contributor / August 1, 2013

Maria Mitchell is featured in Thursday's Google Doodle. Mitchell was the first American woman to be a professional astronomer.

Google

On October 1, 1847, Maria Mitchell took a small refracting telescope onto her father?s roof, and gazed into the Nantucket skies. The telescope was crude by today?s standards with a 12-inch body and a 2-inch lens, but it was powerful enough for Ms. Mitchell to spot a fiery light in the sky: a comet.

Thursday?s Google Doodle celebrates what would have been Ms. Mitchell?s 195th birthday with an illustration of the night that would bring her renown as the first female American astronomer, and the first person to spot a ?telescopic? comet (one too distant to be seen with the naked eye).

But what exactly did Mitchell see?

Comets are dirty ice balls made up of frozen water and gases. The objects orbit the sun, and as they get closer to the sun, the mass starts to melt, explains Michael West, the director of the Maria Mitchell Observatory. The warmth of the sun produces an outer tail, which is what stargazers can see in the sky.

Commonly confused with comets, asteroids are made up of hard chunks of rock, and meteors are asteroids that enter Earth's atmosphere. Whereas asteroid-observation might require a nightlong stargazing stakeout, comets generally move more slowly through the night sky and can usually be seen for several nights. And a comet?s path, and its orbit speed, can be predicted through nights of observation, says Mr. West.?

Comets don?t occur that frequently in the night sky. There are usually only one or two sightings a year, explains West. Comet Ison, also called the ?Comet of the Century? is predicted to appear later on this year. Ison is a ?sun-grazer? says West ? this means that it?s not clear if the icy ball will survive its close passage to the sun.

West says that scientists aren?t sure if, or when, Mitchell?s comet will reappear again in the skies.

Mitchell?s comet, named in honor of its discoverer, earned her a prize from King Fredrick VI of Denmark in 1848, as well as membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences the following year. Mitchell worked for a year up to her death in 1889 as a professor of astronomy at Vassar College, as well as a director of the Vassar College Observatory.?

Together Alone: Computers, Technology & Kids | Psych Central

Together Alone: Computers, Technology & KidsWhat?s happening in the ad world these days? One TV ad running in my area is of a mother who, the narrator chirps, is a master multitasker. She is on a cell phone while making her kids breakfast and sending them off for the day. She?s on the cell phone while doing the grocery shopping with her kids.

She doesn?t even take that phone off her ear when going through the checkout line. Yes, she?s smiling all the time but how is it that whoever is on the other end of that phone is more important than relating to her children and the people in front of her?

Another ad: A woman tells us she is in charge of the family finances and she is so, so happy that she?s found a bundle of cable services that is faster than her old company. We follow her through the house as she indicates her daughter in her room on a computer, her husband in the living room on his laptop and her son in the family room on his tablet. Everyone is happy to have speedy Internet. Everyone is in a different room.

Together alone. Are the ads reflecting American life or are they showing us what we should accept as ?normal?? The people who make the ads know what sells. What they seem to be selling these days is the idea that it is normative for family members to be more interested in their electronics than each other. They may even be right.

According to a recent study from the Kaiser Family Foundation, kids between the ages of 8 to 18 are now spending more than seven and a half hours a day on devices with screens (computers, TVs, and other electronics.) That doesn?t count time spent texting or talking on cell phones. Meanwhile, research shows that American working parents spend an average of 19 minutes a day of quality time with their children! A study by the U.S. Department of Education found that mothers spend less than 30 minutes a day talking with their children while other polls show that fathers spend an average of 15 minutes per day.

Do the math! Who, or rather what, is spending the most time with our children?

Yes, I know. Computers are a fact of life. A kid who grows up in a home without one is at a decided disadvantage. More and more teachers assume the kids have one available and create assignments that require the ability to search the Internet for information. Social inclusion seems to require it. Cell phones provide a measure of safety for kids who are home alone or who are traveling from place to place.

But there?s a dark side. The time with computers can slide from use to abuse so gradually that we barely notice. That?s why the multitasker mom in the TV ad is so disturbing. She probably isn?t aware of how that little box on her ear has separated her from her children and her community. She thinks she can both be on the phone and in life. As happy as she seems to be, she?s missing interactions that are important to her children?s development and to her relationship with them. She?s missing the opportunity to give her kids a warm send-off in the morning. She isn?t teaching her kids about nutrition, budgeting, and courtesy at the grocery store. The message she is giving them is that they are along for her ride, not important in their own right.

As connected as everyone seems to be with the social world, it takes some effort to make genuine connections within the family. Kids need the nurturing that only another human being can provide. They need role models from life, not from TV, about how to be an adult, how to be in loving relationship with a partner, and how to parent their children. They need more protection than ?nannyware? can provide from material that is too mature or too stimulating for them to handle. They need to learn how to get information from people as well as from Google. They need parents to monitor their progress and school and to teach them to value schooling. They need gentle teaching by loving parents about what is important culturally and spiritually.

The mom who happily takes us through her perfect house, finding her perfectly happy family members in separate corners, should be concerned. Is her tour just a moment in time, or is it a reflection of the general state of relationships in her family? If it is the latter, she and her husband have some talking to do about how to fix their lack of connection with their kids.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has weighed in on the subject. They recommend that parents establish ?screen-free? zones in our homes. That means no TVs or computers in kids? bedrooms and limiting entertainment time on computers to two hours a day or less. Further, they stress the importance of monitoring what our kids are watching (and playing if in online gaming) for quality.

It almost doesn?t matter what adults do with kids as long as there is an opportunity to talk, to have affectionate physical contact and to pass on information, values, and beliefs. Having a game of catch outside, chatting while making dinner together or washing the car or snuggling up on the couch to read stories all provide the one-on-one, adult-to-kid time that gives our kids things no screen, no matter what the app, can.

Chinese workers strike over takeover of US firm: Xinhua

BEIJING: More than 5,000 Chinese workers at a Sino-US joint venture tyre manufacturer have gone on strike against the American parent company's $2.5 billion takeover by an Indian firm, state media reported.

Cooper Tire and Rubber announced last month that it would be taken over by Apollo Tyres of India, making the combined group the seventh-largest such firm in the world.

But thousands of staff at Cooper Chengshan, a joint venture in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong, have walked out in protest, the Xinhua news agency said late Tuesday.

It quoted union leaders saying they wanted to block the huge transaction, which saw Cooper shares leap on the New York stock exchange.

Workers are concerned the Indian company will be unable to repay debt taken on in the highly leveraged acquisition and their interests could be damaged, Xinhua said.

Employees have become increasingly vocal in China with numerous labour disputes occurring in recent years, but the cause of the Cooper Chengshan strike is unusual, with protests normally focusing on pay and current working conditions.

It is the latest incident to hit a foreign joint venture after Chinese workers held an American factory executive hostage for nearly a week in late June over a plan by his US-based medical supply company to lay off 30 workers.

The dispute also comes as China and India have vowed to boost trade. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited India in May and promised to open China's market wider to India and forge a "dynamic trade balance" to deepen economic ties and ease political tensions.

Cooper holds 65 percent of the joint venture while China's Chengshan Group has the remaining 35 percent.

"I cannot imagine what the company will become after it is taken over by the Indian company," Cooper Chengshan worker Ma Rufu said, according to Xinhua.

Ma added that Apollo's annual profits were not enough to repay the interest on the debt. "How can our welfare be sustained (after the acquisition)?" Ma said.

Zhang Huaqian, another employee, said: "We shall fight to the end with anyone who allows us to lose our jobs."

Xinhua quoted Yue Chunxue, the director of the Cooper Chengshan labour union, as saying it had been given no information about the deal.

"This is in contempt of Chinese law and disrespect(s) Chinese workers," Yue said, adding the union wanted the deal scrapped.

Philadelphia row house collapses, injuring eight

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? A row house collapse Monday severely damaged neighboring houses and hurt eight people, including a baby and a critically injured contractor.

The collapse happened shortly after 11 a.m. at an unoccupied home being remodeled in the middle of a south Philadelphia street lined with connected two-story brick homes.

The contractor was working in the basement of the destroyed home, police said. Investigators were trying to figure out what happened, but neighbors reported hearing an explosion.

Bricks showered onto the small street and nearly covered a car parked out front. The houses on either side of the destroyed home were standing but badly damaged, with large sections of their masonry walls gone.

Rescue crews combed through the rubble for victims. They said early Monday afternoon that the search was complete and no one was unaccounted for.

Nearby gas service was turned off and the area evacuated. Residents with nowhere to go were taken to a nearby school, which was being used as a temporary shelter.

"I was in the shower and I thought my house was about to fall down," said Christie Scibblo, a 26-year-old mother of four who lives four houses down from the collapsed home. "I ran outside and I saw a firefighter rescuing an infant."

Scibblo said she also saw firefighters hosing down a man who had been burned.

Daniel Killian, 19, who lives across the narrow street from the house that collapsed, said he smelled gas shortly before the collapse.

Joseph Szymborski, 33, was jolted from his bed when he heard what sounded like an explosion and ran outside to find "the house was in the street."

He ran down the street and said he helped neighbors and rescuers look through the rubble, though he was worried about the remains of the damaged buildings falling on him.

"It's situations like this, you just come together as a neighborhood," he said.

Gas and electrical utility crews were on the scene. Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission spokeswoman Jennifer Kocher said the agency also had two inspectors there but that it was still unclear what happened.

The state regulatory agency would have jurisdiction if the explosion occurred outside the home but not if it occurred inside, Kocher said.

Last month, a collapse at a downtown Philadelphia demolition site killed six people and injured 12 when a large wall fell on an adjacent thrift store. A machinery operator is charged with involuntary manslaughter and a grand jury is weighing whether anyone else should be charged.

Sony Pictures Classics Unlocks Tim's Vermeer

Source: Sony Pictures Classics
July 29, 2013

Sony Pictures Classics announced today they have acquired worldwide rights to the documentary Tim's Vermeer, directed by Teller of Penn & Teller fame. Produced by Teller's stage partner Penn Jillette and Farley Ziegler, the film follows Tim Jenison, a Texas based inventor, as he attempts to solve one of the greatest mysteries in all of art: How did 17th century Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer ("Girl with a Pearl Earring") manage to paint so photo-realistically,150 years before the invention of photography? Jenison's epic research project ultimately succeeds as he uses 17th century technology -- lenses and mirrors -- to develop a technique that might have been used by Vermeer, supporting a theory as extraordinary as what he discovers.

Spanning a decade, Jenison's adventure takes him to Delft, Holland, where Vermeer painted his masterpieces; on a pilgrimage to the North coast of Yorkshire to meet artist David Hockney; and eventually even to Buckingham Palace, to see the Queen's Vermeer.

Teller has gathered a notable crew including composer Conrad Pope (My Week with Marilyn) and post-production sound supervisor Larry Blake ("Behind the Candelabra") as well as award-winning editor Patrick Sheffield and director of photography Shane F. Kelly (A Scanner Darkly).

Says Jillette, "My buddy, Tim Jenison, told me over supper he was going to try to paint a Vermeer. Tim is a genius, but I'm a skeptic. I wanted to see him do it. Teller has been the Penn & Teller de facto director since our beginnings so we made a movie of Tim's whole monomaniacal trip. Having Sony Pictures Classics as the first words on the screen means it's more than just a couple of Vegas magicians and an eccentric inventor in his garage -- now, it's a real film that will change the history of art."

"This is an important and brilliant film. We have been admirers of Penn and Teller for decades. We look forward to presenting 'Tim's Vermeer' to audiences around the world," states Sony Pictures Classics.

Tim's Vermeer will be released in 2014.

NASL board approved expansion franchises in Florida, Oklahoma

The North American Soccer League has approved expansion teams in Jacksonville, Fla., and Oklahoma City.

The North American Soccer League board of governors has unamimously approved expansion teams for Jacksonville, Fla., and Oklahoma City.

The franchises will begin playing in time for the 2015 Spring Season. The board approved franchise bids after hearing presentations from groups representing four prospective cities at meetings in Dallas.

?We are delighted to be expanding to two cities that clearly have a passion for soccer, where we believe local fans will be excited to welcome our newest teams,? said NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson. ?We have considered expansion to cities that meet specific criteria and most importantly have strong ownership groups that will provide a long and stable future for the NASL in those markets, which we clearly have in both Jacksonville and Oklahoma City.?

The San Antonio Scorpions also play in the NASL.

Fat Head ? The Farm Report: Pests, Pets and Manly Activities

For a guy who spent most of his years writing, performing, programming, and living in apartments with no yard, I ended up having what may have been the most chest-beating, outdoorsman-type weekend of my life.

On Saturday, I spent a chunk of the day attacking that huge wood pile with a chainsaw. (Yes, I?m the guy who used to be afraid of chainsaws.) It?s slow going, but the plan is to cut up a log or two each weekend until the job is done.

In the early evening, Chareva and I went out back and test-fired her new 20-gauge shotgun several times ? which I guess makes it a chest-beating weekend for her too. I shot my 12-gauge as well to compare the recoil. I think Chareva could handle the 12-gauge in a pinch, but I wanted her to have something more manageable.

When I first fired my 12-gauge a few months ago, I made the mistake of holding it like I hold my rifle; i.e., just sort of resting against my shoulder. Ouch. I had a bruise for three days. I?ve since learned to hold a shotgun tight against my shoulder so the recoil produces a shove, not a punch. The plan is to take up turkey hunting later this year, since we get plenty of wild turkeys in these parts.? I may go for a deer at some point as well.

On Sunday, I attacked the jungle around the property both with the chainsaw (for the really thick bushes) and with the blade attachment on the Weed-Whacker (thus giving myself another opportunity to lose an appendage). Yes, I?ve cleared the jungle before, but I came to a startling realization lesson this summer: jungles grow back. In fact, they?re relentless. With Jimmy Moore coming to town and a hundred or so rounds of disc golf on the schedule, the jungle had to go ? again. Hunting for a bad shot in the overgrowth is a good way to pick up chiggers or ticks.

Speaking of insects that bite, I finally learned why they love me so darned much. And I mean it: I attract them like models attract professional athletes. Chareva and I will go to sleep, and I?ll wake up with a dozen spider bites, while she?ll have one or (more likely) none. Same thing with mosquitoes when we both work outside.

Chareva?s theory was that biting insects find me delicious. My theory was that they don?t bite her because she?s nice. (Naw, leave the nice lady alone, guys. Let?s go bite the sarcastic bastard next to her.) Turns out her theory was probably correct:

Roughly 20 percent of people are more frequent meal tickets for mosquitoes than the rest of the population, and Smithsonian Magazine set out to investigate: Why?

Beer drinkers beware. Mosquitoes love the brew.

Just a single 12-ounce bottle of beer can make you more attractive to the insects, one study found. But even though researchers had suspected this was because drinking increases the amount of ethanol excreted in sweat, or because it increases body temperature, neither of these factors were found to correlate with mosquito landings, making their affinity for drinkers something of a mystery.

No, this isn?t about me drinking beer. I rarely drink beer anymore. I drank way too much beer in my young and stupid days, but I doubt I?m still seeping the stuff from my pores. Let?s read on:

The pests also like Type O blood twice as much as Type A. And they?re attracted to high levels of carbon dioxide and can smell the gas from 164 feet away. That means those with larger frames and bigger bodies are more at risk for bites.

Bingo. I have type O blood. Chareva has type A blood. I also have a bigger body by about 70 pounds. Mosquitoes do find me more delicious. Based on my track record, so do spiders. And chiggers. And ticks.

The garden isn?t providing a whole lot of food yet, but we?ve had a bumper crop of Swiss chard. Man, that?s good stuff. Chareva chops it up and saut?s it in olive oil and garlic, or with chopped bacon. We?ve also had some green beans and sugar-snap peas. Foods from a grocery store don?t come anywhere close for flavor.

I?ve strapped my trail camera to a tree behind the house a few times in hopes of figuring out what makes the dogs occasionally bark like crazy in the middle of the night. I guess it might be this:

For the past couple of weeks, however, the dogs have been focused on trying to find a way into the rest of the house so they can pay a visit (friendly or not ? too soon to tell) to our newest addition:

The kitty?s name (after much debate and negotiation between the girls) is Rascal. I?m not a cat-lover and had no intention of ever getting one, but some idiot stranger forced me to capitulate.

A few weeks ago, Chareva saw someone in a pickup stop halfway down our long driveway, sit there for a minute, then drive away. She thought that was odd, of course. Then we noticed we had a kitten hanging around our house. Okay, now it made sense. Someone apparently bought into the ?drop your unwanted pets at the nearest farm and all will be well? idea.

All wasn?t well. The girls were of course immediately smitten, but within a week the kitten became listless, stopped eating and drinking, and seemed on the verge of death. Our local vet took a look and said if we wanted to spend several hundred dollars on tests, he might be able to figure out what was wrong ? but his guess was that the kitten was going to die anyway. It hadn?t been cared for, hadn?t had any shots, and was riddled with ticks when we found it.

So Chareva and I had to sit the girls down and explain that was it best to put the kitten to sleep. Chareva drove the grief-stricken girls back to the vet?s at their insistence so they could say goodbye to the kitten. Then she came home and dug a grave, in tears. She was never a cat person either, but after days of holding the kitten and trying to feed it with a syringe, she?d bonded with it.

The sort-of-happy ending is that the vet?s nurse decided to take the kitten home and try to save it, since she?d been wanting a cat anyway. At least we could tell the girls (after hours of weeping) that the kitten wasn?t going to be put down. But before the sort-of-happy ending, Chareva had promised the grieving girls that we?d get them another kitten.

That?s how Rascal ended up being their new pet. By the time I came home from work the next day, they?d already picked him up from a shelter.

So some idiot stranger traumatized my girls, left with me a vet bill, and pushed me into owning a cat ? all because he thought it would be a good idea to dump his unwanted pet on our land. Thanks, moron.

Rascal is a mellow little dude and seems to like me. He demonstrates his affection by pouncing on my shoulder late at night when I?m watching TV alone in the dark and have forgotten we own a cat. Then he helpfully slurps up the drink that tumbles out of my hand when I jump halfway out of my chair with what?s left of my hair standing up. I guess he doesn?t want those chest-beating weekends to give me a big macho ego. Getting the poop scared out of you by a kitten certainly provides a dose of humility.

On another farm somewhere in Illinois, my future dinner is growing up nicely on a diet of grass, as Mother Nature intended.? The Older Brother sent a picture:

Dos and Don?ts during Interview

Rating: Not yet rated.

Dos and Don?ts during Interview

DOS
? Dress smartly, look bright and attentive, and speak clearly and confidently. Don?t forget that in the first few minutes only 7% of the interviewer?s opinion of you is formed by what you say ? the rest is judged on how you look, act and sound
? find out where the venue is beforehand, how to get there and how long it takes
? get your outfit ready the night before
? find out what kind of interview it will be so you can prepare
? examine the person specification and your CV/application form, and think about what type of questions they will ask you
? Prepare answers for the main questions ? for example, why do you want the job, what are your strengths and weaknesses, what are the main tasks in this job?
? make about three or four points in each answer
? quote real examples of when you?ve used certain skills ? just saying you?ve got a skill isn?t enough
? take your time when answering the questions: make sure you understand the question and take your time if you need to think
? Sell yourself: no one else is going to! Be positive about yourself and your experiences
? Prepare some questions to ask at the end of the interview ? use it as an opportunity to find out more about the role and the company. (Don?t ask about money or perks just yet!)
? when discussing salary, know your market worth and start by quoting a little higher than this
? get feedback on your performance, whether you were successful or not
? turn off your mobile phone: treat the interviewers with respect and give them your undivided attention
? keep your answers focused on what you can do for the employer, not what they can do for you

DON?TS

? don?t be late
? don?t swear or use slang words
? don?t slouch in your seat or do anything that makes you look uninterested
? don?t smoke
? Don?t lie: the interviewer may see through you. Even if you get the job, your employer can dismiss you if they find out that you have not been honest
? Don?t let your nerves show too much; a few nerves are normal but extreme nerves will affect your performance. Use breathing techniques and try to remember that it?s not a life and death situation ? there are plenty of jobs out there!
? Don?t be arrogant and assume you?ve got the job. Nothing turns off employers more than someone who is disrespectful and over-confident
? don?t discuss controversial topics such as religion, politics and gender relations
? don?t read from notes or your CV ? you should be familiar enough with your own history to be able to talk about it unprompted
? Don?t criticize former employers or colleagues. Interviewers may mark you down as a troublemaker and a gossip
? Don?t argue with the interviewer, no matter what. Remember to keep things positive!

[USA] $800 for first year college student, some gaming as well

[unable to retrieve full-text content]

Source: forum.notebookreview.com --- Wednesday, July 24, 2013
Hi everyone! I'm back and in need of another laptop for my brother. He's going to be a freshmen this upcoming year and doing pre-med if that matters. I've seen the y410p, VAIO Fit 15E, and HP ENVY 15z-j000, but am wondering if there are any other alternatives available. The y410p seemed like the best choice, but he's looking for at least 15" since it'll be his main display. From the reviews the battery seems a little weak as well even when just typing papers or browsing the web. Appreciate any help! 1) What is your budget? $800 or less 2) What size notebook would you prefer? d. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen 3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator. USA 4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? Prefer not to get an Acer 5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed? No 6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook? Microsoft Office, watching videos, and gaming (Civilizations V, GTA IV) with medium settings 7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both? Taking it to classes 8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games? Yes, mainly Civ V and GTA IV. Medium setting is fine, obviously at this price point :p 9) How many hours of battery life do you need? ~4 hours preferably 10) Would you prefer to see the note ...

Interviews: (@SheleaMusic) Shelea Talks Going to College, Stevie Wonder As a Mentor, The White House, More

Newcomer Shelea (shuh-LAY-uh) is definitely someone you should pay attention to. The singer, songwriter, and pianist embody all the skills of a budding superstar: looks, voice, musicality, personality and presence. Inspired by the late Whitney Houston and a Mentee of the great Stevie Wonder, Shelea, who wrote the theme song to the film Jumping The Broom, has a gift that will call on hearts and raise spirits. She released her debut album, Love Fell On Me, last month (June 2013), led by the soulful single, "Love The Way You Love Me," which premiered on Singersroom back in February (2013). The set features production and appearances from Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross), Brian McKnight and Stevie Wonder (played Harmonica on the title track, "Love Fell On Me," which was selected as the musical theme song for the "Jumping the Broom" film.)

We recently chopped it up with Shelea on a plethora of topics including majoring in Music, Stevie Wonder, performing at The White House, and more. Watch the video below or read on....

Music As a Profession ... Being in college, I was in a girls group...The girls group didn't necessarily work out but just being in the studio and writing... That was my first time really being immersed in music culture like that; late nights in the studio, writing, producing, that's when I felt like, 'I think I want to do this on my own'.

College Education & Music ... I graduated with a BA in Music, emphasis piano; I play piano too. I'm playing on everything on the album, except one song, my brother-in-law Justin Wilson is playing. I just think all those life experiences in college, it just makes you stronger as a person. Faith plays a really big part in my life, in my career; I believe that God has a plan for me, and he's been with me this whole time.

Debut Album, 'Love Fell On Me' ... It's a collection of songs that kind of show the ins and outs of love. I actually had a version of this album that I released a little bit earlier, and we decided to revamp it a little bit; make it more focused musically. It still has the same essence, it tells a story, and I think no matter where you are in life, whether you're going through a breakup or you're just madly in love with someone or just trying to put the pieces together, I think that you're going to find something on this album that's going to resonate with you.

The single "Love The Way You Love Me" ... I actually wrote this song many many years before, I had the chorus [so] when I started to revamp the album, that melody came back to me...I ended up writing some verses and a bridge.

Opinion on Love ... Love comes in a lot of different forms. When it comes to a relationship, you just have to meet the person that you can have your needs and their needs met at the same time.

Creative Process ... Sometimes it's based on experience or maybe a conversation I had with someone or something I've read...Even if we were talking and you said something, I would write it down, cause that might be a lyric. I just get my inspiration from a lot of different places.

Inspiration and Influences ... I definitely have a very close connection with Whitney Houston, I think most people do so I'm not different in that, but I've gotten so much from her, her phrasing, the way she approaches music, how the lyric is so important, so I definitely feel that I was inspired by that. Of course Stevie Wonder, who has become my mentor, he's just an incredible songwriter; the way he looks at life...is very inspiring.

Working With Stevie Wonder ... He's incredible, he's magical, he's everything you think he is. He just has a good heart, that's what I love most about him. He's obviously a musical genius, we all know that, he's been the soundtrack to all our lives, but he has a good heart...He's actually playing the harmonica on Love Fell On Me, which is the name of the album, which is also the theme song for Jumping the Broom, the motion picture...

Meeting Stevie Wonder ... I met him four years ago. I was on this album called The Standard with Take 6 and I sang the song "Something to Watch Over Me," he heard it, and he wanted to meet me. That's just kind of when the relationship started, and we just connected immediately, musically, and spiritually, and we just over the years became friends. Our relationship kind of picked up a year and a half ago, he was very influential in getting me to perform at The White House.

The White House ... I was in The White House, and I'm like, 'I'm up in the piece, [laughs] I can't believe I'm walking through these halls.' It was historic, just not even meeting President Obama and Michelle, that was of course what I was most looking forward to because they're just such incredible people...there spirit was just exactly what you see, so warm and welcoming to me.

Hardships As a New Artist ... As a new artist, you have to realize that you have to prove yourself over and over and over again. Right when you think there is nothing left to prove, there is always something else to prove. I'm at a place now where I'm in it for the long haul, I know there's going to be a lot of NOs, a lot of rejections, but I know that God has given me a gift, and I believe that I have something special to offer this industry and I'm in it for the long haul.

US drops unarmed bombs on Great Barrier Reef

(AP) ? Two U.S. fighter jets dropped four unarmed bombs into Australia's Great Barrier Reef Marine Park last week when a training exercise went wrong, the U.S. Navy said, angering environmentalists.

The two AV-8B Harrier jets launched from the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard each jettisoned an inert practice bomb and an unarmed laser-guided explosive bomb into the World Heritage-listed marine park off the coast of Queensland state on Tuesday, the U.S. 7th Fleet said in a statement Saturday.

The Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest network of coral structures, is rich in marine life and stretches more than 3,000 kilometers (1,800 miles) along Australia's northeast coast.

Commander William Marks, spokesman for the 7th Fleet, said the emergency jettison was made in consultation with Australian officials.

"There is minimal environmental impact," Marks told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio on Monday. "It is a safe situation for the environment, for shipping, for navigation."

The four bombs, weighing a total of 900 kilograms (2,000 pounds), were dropped into more than 50 meters (164 feet) of water away from coral to minimize possible damage to the reef, the statement said. None exploded.

The jets from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit had intended to drop the ordnances on the Townshend Island bombing range, but aborted the mission when controllers reported the area was not clear of hazards, the statement said.

"There were civilian boats right below them," Marks said.

The pilots conducted the emergency jettison because they were low on fuel and could not land with their bomb load, the Navy said.

The emergency happened on the second day of the biennial joint training exercise Talisman Saber, which brings together 28,000 U.S. and Australian military personnel over three weeks.

The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps were working with Australian authorities to investigate the incident, the Navy said.

Australian Sen. Larissa Waters, the influential Greens party's spokeswoman on the Great Barrier Reef, described the dumping of bombs in such an environmentally sensitive area as "outrageous" and said it should not be allowed.

"Have we gone completely mad?" she told ABC. "Is this how we look after our World Heritage area now? Letting a foreign power drop bombs on it?"

Graeme Dunstan, who is among the environmentalists and anti-war activists demonstrating against the joint exercises, said the mishap proved that the U.S. military could not be trusted to protect the environment.

"How can they protect the environment and bomb the reef at the same time? Get real," Dunstan said from the Queensland coastal town of Yeppoon, near where the war games are taking place.
